Hope everyone had a great 4th of July! Connor and I left on Wednesday to Twin Lakes for some camping with family. We had great weather the first two days and spent almost the whole time in the water (burn and tan lines to prove it). The goldendoodle puppies have been swimming a ton, and since they are still pretty young, they nap in the sun a lot too. Such sweeties. We took the boat out for the firework show at night and drank hot chocolate. It was a great time! The day after, the weather changed and some rain and storm clouds sneaked up on everyone. This day we decided to float the Kettle river, and after the second time, just as we were getting out of the water and deflating our tubes, it down-poured! Even though the float was a little chilly, it was pretty cool to have thundering clouds rolling behind us, despite how dangerous it could have been. All for the memories, right?
We drove back yesterday for my great grandmother’s funeral, which was hard but ended with a great celebration of her life. At the burial, the whole family went around in a circle telling their favorite memories and thoughts. It was such an uplifting way to end the service, and it was amazing to see the impacts she had on peoples’ lives, both friends and family.
Today is the start to a second week of adventures. We are leaving with my parents to Yellowstone National Park, a place I haven’t been since I was a kid. Connor has never been there before, so it will be a first and exciting time for him. (We tried to warn him of our bad luck camping — something always insane happens. Read: fires, evacuation, car problems, red cross shelters, etc.) But this is all on our way to hopefully start new roots in Colorado. After Yellowstone, Connor and I are driving the rest of the way to the Denver area to begin job-hunting while we stay with some family friends. If all goes well, we will have a new town to settle down in. Crossing our fingers!
I hope you all have a good week. Due to lack of internet and service in Yellowstone, I won’t be posting Tuesday. I will catch up on Friday and share some pictures!
